Compilations fulfill a task both delicate and essential of offering us a
perspective as concentrated as precise of a specific artistic context,
congregating many voices in a single place and, in the process, giving them a certain cohesion. “Ferramentas Vol. I” is what we have when an artist such as Martinelli faces this curatorial challenge and takes charge of providing us with a glimpse of what his peers are creating, while always having in mind what we will be doing. Here the core idea was to collect a wide array of qualities that could cover a
vast universe of usages: percussive bluntness with ‘c66’ by Kakubo and ‘Maria Ferramenta’ by Martinelli; sonic effervescence with ‘Sensus Lex’ by Letrícia and ‘Rebimboca’ by Zelada; rhythmic malevolence with ‘Discrete System’ by
Bad_Mix ‘ and ‘Thriller’ de b144; tonal bubbliness with ‘Glok’ by Dreams and ‘Confucian Scrolls’ and Xiao Quan among many other tools that flow through varied pH levels and types of groove. The overall result is a versatile set of useful instruments for anyone’s routine, as they encompass all kinds of musical delight -
be them personal, professional or passional, as long as we are listening or dancing.
